Hello My Name Is...

Emily Altman

Welcome to the 2016-2017 School Year!  I am your School Counselor, and it is my pleasure to serve the students, staff, and parents here at PGES.  I was born and raised in Cleburne County, graduated from CCHS in 1990, and attended JSU.  I have a BS in Elementary Education and a Master's in School Counseling. I began my teaching career in Haralson County, GA, in 1995.  I worked there for 19 years teaching and counseling.  A few years ago, I decided that I wanted to work closer to home on the same schedule as my family.  I was fortunate enough to get the very job I wanted!  My husband teaches math, and coaches football and basketball at CCHS.  We have 3 children that keep us busy all the time.  As a family we love cheering on the CCHS & Auburn Tigers, frequent trips to Disneyworld, and cruising the Caribbean with Disney!

Please do not hesitate to call me, or come see me if there are issues you or your child need to discuss.  My door is always open!

PGES is a fantastic place for our children to learn and grow.  As a parent, there are several things you can do to help your child be successful.

-Make sure your child is present at school on time each day.  If your child is sick, send an excuse when they return.  If they visit the doctor, get a doctor's excuse.

-Keep in contact with your child's teacher(s) in some way.  Make sure your child knows you do this.

-Let your child know you expect them to work hard, and try their best.

-Ask for help from school employees if you need it.

-Encourage your child to be responsible, respectful, and hard-working.  All of these are traits that will not only help them in their school endeavors, but in life beyond school as well.
